When you think of heroes, you might picture someone in a cape. But here in Nassau County, Long Island, our real heroes wear scrubs, uniforms, turnout gear, and teaching badges. National Heroes Day gives us a chance to pause and thank the people who dedicate their lives to serving others. Whether they're military veterans, police officers, nurses, teachers, or first responders, these men and women are the backbone of our neighborhoods—and one of the biggest reasons Nassau County is such a wonderful place to live.
