Your Guide to the Best Fall Motorcycle Rides on Long Island | Laffey Real Estate

Fall is the perfect time of year to see the sights on Long Island, especially if you love traveling on two wheels. With National Motorcycle Ride Day on the second Saturday of every October, you have the perfect excuse to get out and ride. There are a variety of great rides to choose from on Long Island, and who doesn't love seeing the fall foliage while roaring down the open road? Our real estate agents are here to help you find your next ride with our guide to the best fall motorcycle rides on Long Island.

  • Route 25A
The North Shore is always an excellent choice for a ride, with a great combination of waterfront scenery and fall foliage to enjoy this time of year. You can pick up this route near Great Neck homes for sale and follow it for up to 60 miles traveling east. There are plenty of great towns to stop for a bite, shopping, or sightseeing along the way, between seeing all of the scenery on Route 25A. You'll also find many opportunities for fall photo ops that capture the foliage and the waterfront.

One of the adventures of this route is how many places there are to jump on and off, each with its own charms. The part of the route near Roslyn homes for sale, for example, passes very close to Hempstead Bay and North Hempstead Beach Park. If you're planning a picnic along your route, picking up Route 25A near the Roslyn area can be the perfect way to spend an autumn afternoon.

  • West Shore Road
Another excellent choice for waterfront scenery (you'll find that's a common theme!), West Shore Road can be picked up close to Oyster Bay homes for sale. You can then follow the road north along the coast for a leisurely ride with beautiful views of Oyster Bay and the opportunity to stop at a variety of quaint seaside towns along the coast. There are a variety of nature preserves located just a bit west of this route if you'd like to extend your ride, as well as some historic mansions that look especially nice when surrounded by fall foliage.

  • Sands Point Preserve – 127 Middle Neck Road, Sands Point, NY 11050
Not all Long Island rides are on the highways, and there are also some excellent attractions that you can explore via motorcycle. Sands Point Preserve, located a short ride from Port Washington homes for sale, is an opulent, historic estate you can explore on foot or by vehicle. Take the scenic ride out to Sands Point Preserve, then explore on foot or see the over 200-acre grounds on your motorcycle. Along the way, on select dates, you can stop to tour a variety of historic buildings, including the mansion, or stroll along the nature trails.

  • Old Westbury Road
For a shorter ride close to a variety of attractions that connect with major routes like the Long Island Expressway, Old Westbury Road can make a great addition to a longer ride. The main attraction here is Old Westbury Gardens, a beautiful historic estate with gardens, water features, and stunning architecture. There are also a variety of great golf courses just to the north, near Westbury homes for sale.
