Dogs do so much for us humans. Some do police work, others go on rescue missions, and many simply greet us at the door with snuggles and kisses. On August 26th, we all have an opportunity to celebrate our dogs and show appreciation for their kind, loving personalities. National Dog Day was founded in 2004 to promote dogs and draw attention to those needing adoption from shelters. Luckily, Long Island has plenty of dog-friendly places where you can celebrate.
