Long Island Area Parks
There's nothing like a walk in the park to clear your mind and enjoy the beauty of nature. Our real estate agents along with many clients want to live near the outdoor spaces Long Island real estate offers.

Although Long Island is renowned for its breathtaking shoreline, there are many different types of parks. You'll see them situated around hilly plains, forested areas, and, yes, seaside cliffs from one end of the Island to the other. There's always something to see and do.

National Take a Walk in the Park Day is celebrated on Saturday, March 30 this year. There has never been a better time to get outside and appreciate all that makes Long Island unique.

Let's visit with some of the best parks in Long Island:

  1. Eisenhower Park - 1899 Park Blvd, Westbury, NY 11590
Eisenhower Park is a 930-acre oasis of open space located right near Westbury homes for sale. One of the most beloved parks in the area, it's well known for being larger than Central Park. It boasts quality athletic and recreational facilitates: A state-of-the-art aquatic center, golf facility, dozens of courts and fields, playgrounds, and trails.

  2. Cold Spring Harbor - 95 Harbor Road, Cold Spring Harbor, NY 11724
Cold Spring Harbor consists of a gorgeous 40 acres of hilly harbor-view land. Draped with a hardwood forest, this postcard landscape is home to some of the most beautiful old growth oaks on Long Island. Birdwatchers love to come here to observe their migratory friends in both spring and fall. It's also the northern trailhead of the Nassau Suffolk Greenbelt Trail.

  3. Flushing Meadows Corona Park - Queens, NY
Flushing Meadows Corona Park has a long and storied history. It was originally created as the site of the 1939 New York World's Fair and was formerly home to Shea Stadium. Now, it still contains a number of world-class athletic venues: The Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, for example, is the current site of the US Open. Willow Lake, in its south, is great for hiking.

  4. Forest Park - Myrtle Avenue, Woodhaven, NY 11421
Forest Park is one of the biggest local parks, spanning 538 acres and containing more than 160 acres of forest. It features a wide range of storied landmarks including the Forest Park Carousel and My Buddy's Statue, a servicemember memorial. Structures include Oak Ridge, the former golf course clubhouse, and the Overlook. The playgrounds and Victory Field host many holiday events.

  5. Fort Greene Park Conservancy - 85 South Oxford Street, Brooklyn, NY 11217
    Fort Greene Park Conservancy
bills itself as Brooklyn's first park. Found in the Fort Greene neighborhood, it is a 30-acre expanse marking the spot where a Revolutionary War installation once stood. It hosts the annual Summer Literary Festival as well as a summer concert series. Many historic buildings and markers dot the park grounds.

  6. Bushwick Inlet Park - Kent Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11249
Bushwick Inlet Park stretches along the East River and is being extended toward Greenpoint at Quay Street. It now encompasses nearly nine acres and has a magnificent view of the Bushwick Inlet on pristine land along the shore. At present, its soccer and football fields and community center are open to the public. Other areas are reopening as the renovation completes.
