Glen's Dinette in Babylon - A Local Long Island Landmark

Glen's Dinette
Glen's Dinette located at 23 East Main Street, Babylon Village in Long Island, is a local landmark. And a great dining spot for delicious basic food. Hapi and Chrissie Auer have owned and operated the diner for 17 years. When you walk in the door, you know you're in the right place, although you may wonder if you're in the same decade.
Glen's is a blast from the past. When you find a seat, you'll feel like you're visiting a diner from decades ago, but that's not a bad thing at all. You sit on vintage furniture gently worn with use. There are black and white Long Island photographs and license plates from different times and states as far away as Idaho. There's a chalkboard menu, and just like the good old days, the service is great, and everyone seems happy and well fed. Of course, being a blast from the past has its drawbacks: No credit or debit cards accepted.
The Menu
As with most restaurants, the breakfast menu is the real story at Glen's dinette. It's a blast from the past to a time when food was real and handmade, portions were filling, and there was no such thing as fast food. Six mornings a week a breakfast crowd arrives for Hapi's egg dishes, hearty home fries, griddle cakes, and "Egg Sandwiches-Only in New York." The diner also serves their famous homemade corned beef, and there's a kids menu too.
Lunch & Specials
As the menu says, "Breakfast Served all Day," but there's a lunch menu too. Glen's doesn't serve salads they're "Salad Celebrations." You'll find chili dogs listed under, "Walking the Dog" and wraps under "Wrap it Up." Glen might not be around anymore, but he's the namesake for Glen's Burgers and Glen's Famous Fresh Made to Order Chicken Fingers. And don't forget Glen's Famous Rootbeer Floats.
